About the Author:
Dr. Valerie Allen writes both fiction and non-fiction. Her work has been published in newspapers, on-line e-zines, literary journals, parenting, educational, and mental health magazines. Her articles have been published in parenting magazines nationwide. She conducts seminars for medical and mental health professionals using her published materials on: Domestic Violence: Awareness and Prevention, Stress Management in the Workplace, Counseling with Conduct Disorder Youth, and similar topics. Dr. Allen is a Certified Teacher, Guidance Counselor, Licensed School Psychologist, Nationally Board Certified School Psychologist, a Certified Rehabilitation Counselor, a Certified Case Manager, and a Certified Vocational Evaluation Specialist. Dr. Allen is a member of the Florida Association for the Deaf, the Florida Association of School Psychologists, the National Association of School Psychologists, the Florida Psychological Association, the Brevard Association of Health Services, and the Melbourne Chamber of Commerce. She is on the Board of Directors for the Space Coast Writer’s Guild, and facilitates the Blueprints Books Writer’s Group. She is in private practice in Melbourne, Florida. Oh yes, she has also raised six children!
