Synopsis
This LARGE PRINT edition is the second printing 2021 of A Course in Miracles Original Edition: LARGE PRINT Edition, published by the Course in Miracles Society (CIMS).
The Original Edition reflects the scribing originally undertaken by Helen Schucman and William (Bill) Thetford and completed in 1972. The manuscript underlying this edition was first published in 2006 by the Course in Miracles Society (CIMS). This “Original Edition” restores passages that had been removed or altered and presents the material in its original sequence.
The Course is presented in three parts: the Text, the Workbook for Students, and the Manual for Teachers. The Text sets forth the theoretical foundation of the Course’s metaphysical thought system. The Workbook contains 365 daily lessons designed to retrain the mind and heal perception. The Manual for Teachers offers guidance for those who choose to deepen their learning through teaching. About the Authors
Helen Schucman (1909-1981) was a clinical psychologist and research associate at Columbia University. She is best known for her role in the scribing of A Course in Miracles, a spiritual text that emerged through a collaborative process and was later organized and edited for publication.
William N. Thetford (1923-1988) was a professor of psychology and department chair at Columbia University. He collaborated closely with Helen Schucman in the organization, editing, and preparation of A Course in Miracles for publication.

This Original Edition faithfully reproduces the original transcript of the book that was produced as a result of the collaboration between Schucman and Thetford, whom many believe were involved with each other in the "holy relationship" described in Chapters 17 to 22 of the Text. This edition preserves the original language of the dictation of those chapters, which were addressed to the two collaborators as they worked together to produce the manuscript. Later editing of the manuscript changed the focus of these important chapters and addresses them to a solitary reader, removing the mutuality that is explicit in the original dictation. After 1972, Thetford withdrew from further detailed editing work, and the editing process resumed. Along with changes in paragraphing, punctuation, capitalisation and section titles of the 1972 manuscript, in the absence of Thetford's steadying influence, there was a great deal of line-by-line editing. In addition, about one-fifth of the material in the first five chapters was removed. Finally, a new section, the Clarification of Terms, was added. The resulting edition, was published in 1975 by the Foundation for Inner Peace.
