The Monkey Pod Tree is a collection of stories told by a Japanese American boy, growing up in the small village of Wahiawa. The stories tell about the simple pleasure of the past, the meaning of family raditions, and the ties that bind friendships. Historical events change island life forever; the people of Wahiawa call on their courage to remain strong, while they continue to hope for the better.
