Synopsis
Detective Abby Stanfield spends months bringing the sadistic Billy Ward to trial for a series of brutal murders. When the case is thrown out of court, the distraught Abby publicly threatens to kill Ward herself. Suspended from duty after her outburst, Abby retreats to a secluded lakeside resort. There she meets Sarah Murphy, a journalist working undercover on the Ward story. As the two women are drawn to each other, the story is forgotten as Sarah and Abby discover love for the first time in both their lives. As the police work to re-build the case, Abby and Sarah experience for themselves the pitiless brutality of the serial killer, as both struggle desperately for survival of body and soul. In her debut novel, CL Hart has woven mystery, suspense and a tender love affair into a story that is both riveting and touching.
