About the Author

Colleen Clark made stops in Pennsylvania, England and Kenya before settling into the U Street neighborhood of D.C. By day she covers travel for USATODAY online, and by night she uses a music reporter gig for DCist to justify spending her salary on concert tickets. Her writing has appeared in USA Today, DCist and Two Mundos.

Elise Hartman Ford has been a freelance writer in the Washington, DC, area since 1985. Her writing has appeared in The Washington Post, Washingtonian, the London-based Bradman's North America Guide, Ladies' Home Journal, National Parks, as well as other national, regional and trade publications.
