Synopsis
Teaching children the importance of proper puppy care, this story begins following a mixed-breed pup named Doc when he is 10 days old. Doc's observations as he tries to deal with the new and strange requests of his humans are delivered in entertaining and often moving poetry. Accompanying each of Doc's experiences—from learning how to walk on a leash to visiting his first vet—is a comment from Doc's veterinarian, Dr. Tim Roberts. He explains in prose what the puppy is going through, as well as how to start training a pup to become a happy, confident dog. Doc's life, as seen from Doc's point of view, helps readers both young and old, as little ones understand why good parents sometimes have to say “no” and parents see the great importance of play.

About the Authors
The series is by Diane Till, a former advertising creative director in New York, whose career included living in Italy and Australia and working throughout Asia, Europe and Mexico. She is an avid animal rights advocate and believes respect for earth's creatures should start young.
Diane Till is an award winning advertising writer who has traveled extensively and lived in Rome, Italy, and Sydney, Australia. She lived and worked in New York City for seventeen years and is now settled in Jacksonville, Florida. She shares her home with two dogs, two parrots and a cat.

Doc is a puppy. He is handsome, brave and smart (as he is the first to tell you). When he is eight weeks old, he is adopted by Polly and her family. They love him, but they have all sorts of very strange ideas. Like you need to walk on a leash. Or you shouldn't roll on smelly fish. Or you're not supposed to chew on shoes. They even have definate ideas where you should -- and should not --pee. Doc learns a lot in a year, and he tells us with each milestone, "Here's What I Know So Far."
