Louie is a buoy in the Bay of St. Louis. Louie had a happy life in the Bay, remaining firmly in position and proudly guiding the variety of boats that passed him every day. This is the story of Louie's trials, tribulations and ultimate triumph on the fateful day when Hurricane Camille tore Louie from his post and devastated the Mississippi Gulf Coast.

Allain C. Andry, III is an attorney, banker and humorous, gifted storyteller. He lives with his wife, Judy, in the French Quarter in New Orleans. As a child, he and his family spent their summers on the Gulf Coast. His children and grandchildren have continued that tradition.
Tazewell S. Morton, III, the artist, had a successful career in advertizing and later returned to Auburn, AL to teach graphic design. While there, he designed a school flag that fellow alum, Ken Mattingly, planted in the course of the Apollo 16 flight, making Morton the only U.S. artist with work on the moon. Morton's bright watercolors are appealing, cheerful and enduring.
"Louie is endearingly serious about his job as a buoy. This story will appeal to children who have been affected by challenging life changes. They need to talk and we need to listen. Sharing Louie's experience with a hurricane may help." --Marigny Dupuy, Children's Books Columnist, The Times-Picayune
"Allain Andry polished the tale of Louie the Buoy on his children as they looked out over the Bay of St. Louis from their home on Henderson Point. Louie was the name Andry gave to a buoy, and after Hurricane Camille, his children were concerned about the survival of their treasured landmark. Louie felt the fury of Camille: 'All four legs were jerked out of the sand, and he was rolled over and over in the deep, black, turbulent water.' Andry does not pander to children by writing down to them, but rather uses challenging words, creating images that surround the reader and prod the intellect." --Scott Naugle, The Sun Herald
