The perfect gift for the sophisticated cat lover, this richly illustrated volume will delight anyone fond of felines, fonts, or Victorian fiction. Within The Well-Lettered Cat, you will meet Joey the Alphacat and the rest of the alphabet as they embark on a Kafkaesque journey from A (Avant Garde) to Z (Zapf Chancery) in search of a wandering ginger tabby. Witty, literate, and handsomely produced, this beautiful hardbound book has a full-color dustjacket and illustrated four-color endsheets, and contains more than 150 color photographs and drawings. Here you may finally find the answer to a question that haunts us all: How well do you know your characters? Winner of the 2006 Certificate of Excellence in gift books from The Cat Writers Association, Inc.

A writer and editor for the past thirty years, Porter Evans has been involved in animal rescue for as long as she can remember. She is a professional member of the Cat Writers Association, Inc., and in 2006 was awarded their Certificate of Excellence for her first book, The Well-Lettered Cat, published by Lines Rampant Press. In addition to being pet advocates, Ms. Evans and her husband, designer Edward Fierro, comment frequently on topics related to graphic design, literature, and communications. They established The Arts and Cats Movement, a gift product line, in 2007, and live in California with their feline family.
Finally, I most highly recommend the whimsical yet seriously well-produced and beautifully written book, The Well-Lettered Cat, written and designed by the team of Porter Evans and Ed Fierro. It was part of the inspiration for my rather incomplete little primer on Deco typography, and I urge anyone who loves fonts, felines or felicitous word play to seek it out. --Alice Jerow, The Sophisticate, Journal of the Art Deco Society of California
Not just for cat lovers because of the stories involving 14 cute cats or for alphabet addicts, this fascinating book is also a wonderful lesson in type and design. Each page continues the storyline of the cats as they go from Avant Garde to Zapf Chancery (typefaces) with loads of unusual words using the alphabet letters. A most interesting combination of words and art. --Fred Klein, Santa Barbara News-Press
