About the Author

While best known for his books on Montana hunting fatalities, and the legal and vigilante hangings of Big Sky Country, Tom has become one of the top experts on college football history, primarily the early years in Montana. Two Hundred years of Hunting Related Fatalities" and his two part series of "Hanging Around the Big Sky. The Unofficial Guide to Lynching. Strangling an Legal Hangings of Montana, Tom began collecting hundreds of articles, stories, facts and trivia concerning the Montana-Montana State Rivalry. Even though he had been gathering material for his "Montana's Greatest Rivalry" since 1997, Tom began working in earnest on the football project in 2009, when he began reading hours and hours of microfilm, and interviewing scores of former players, coaches, officials and alumni from both Montana and Montana State.
Tom's interest in the Montana-Montana State Rivalry began with his first bobcat-Grizzly Game at Missoula in 1962, when as a twelve year old, he and his best friends watched the action from the nearby Mount Sentinel, because they couldn't justify the one dollar tickets. The last rivalry contest that he witnessed was in 2012, when he enjoyed the game with his son's family at Missoula. Even though his business career and military service had prevented him from personally attending most of the Bobcat-Grizzly Games over the years, Tom has compiled the most comprehensive history of the rivalry, including some of the most complete statistics of the series. Any one that has read his previous works can attest to Tom's attention to detail, as well as his insistence of backing up his facts and statements with as much reference material as possible
