Synopsis
The Legend of Johnny Big Buck, Swift Hill transports the reader to whitetail deer country where deer hunting friends Carter, Paul, Rob, Shane and Jay spot and pursue a giant whitetail buck. One frosty early-autumn night, our five companions pile into Carter's truck and drive off to find deer with spotlight in hand. On the way to Swift Hill, where a huge buck has been rumored to live, they spot other deer in the fields. In a grassy field at Swift, the light reveals Johnny Big Buck, but only for a moment until he vanishes over a ridge. And so begins the quest to hunt down and shoot this massive whitetail. About the Author
Whitetail deer hunter and enthusiast, Jason R. Mumford hails from Girard, PA. He is happily married to the lovely Michele, and together they raise 3 future deer hunting legends, Caden, Jackson and Claire. It is a well-known fact amongst his family and friends that from October through January he is well concealed in some tree with bow/rifle/muzzleloader in hand, awaiting the arrival of a trophy northwest PA whitetail. He retreats to the studio or office only when it is absolutely necessary. The allure of crisp autumn air, hardwoods dazzling with color, and bucks with antlers polished for rutting battle are irresistible to the deer hunter's soul. A void develops in that soul through the spring and summer months. Come October, Jason and all other venison harvesters must return to the field to fill that void. Jason holds a baclelor's of arts degree in art from Houghton College in Houghton , NY , the place of inspiration for the story.Jason's father, Richard Mumford, introduced him to the outdoors and deer hunting as a boy, and has shared many great experiences with him over many seasons. It is his hope that this book will serve as a catalyst for other adult-youth relationship-building through the passing-on and preservation of the whitetail deer hunting heritage we have and are free to pursue in this great land.
