Victoria is feisty, alert, and always up for an an adventure -- as was Dionis, who at 98 was canoeing the day before she died. Cynthia Riggs published the first book in this series after her 70th birthday, and issues a new one each spring. Deadly Nighshade takes place in the Oak Bluffs harbor of the Vineyard. The villians suspect Victoria has witnessed a murder, and must silence her. The Cranefly Orchid Murders pits land developers against environmentalists and is based on a real Island political debate.
About the Author:
Cynthia Riggs is descended from a long line of sea captains and their strong and independent women-folk. A 13th generation Islander, she has been a ferryboat captain, sailing instructor, boat rigger, and the seventh woman to set foot on the South Pole. She is also the mother of five children. Her father was an experimenter for Thomas A. Edison; her mother, who is the model for Victoria Trumbull, was a poet and writer who died at 98, the day after canoeing on her favorite pond. Cynthia, who runs a bed and breakfast in her old family home that caters to writers and poets, wrote the first in this series after her 70th birthday, and publishes a new one each spring.
