35 Stories with 168 color illustrations and 8 Storiettes plus a surprising tale of Piper Cub J-3 N7074H's resurrection from bones after a crash sidelined it for 48 years! Marc Paulsen bought a used Piper J-3 Cub at a time when a couple of months pay was all one needed for total payment. He then spent the next couple of years learning to fly the plane, during which time he had quite a number of exciting, exhilarating, unique and also hair-raising flight experiences. A few relatively serious incidents were due mostly to what he admits were his own follies. Modest skill and lady luck saved him from grave bodily-harm, but not from catastrophic wallet damage. While still a student pilot he purchased an additional plane at very modest cost, a biplane that had quite a unique history. Over time, he worked as an airplane salesman, owned ten different planes and checked out to fly in thirty-four assorted types. In this book he describes in lurid detail many of his wild escapades that can only be told now...many years later when the incidents are far behind which helps reduce the shame-factor to manageable considerations. These are flying stories that most pilots keep to themselves. In these stories are flying truths described in language that flyers and non-flyers alike can easily understand and enjoy.

About the author: Marc Paulsen's infatuation with airplane flight began in 1943 when, as a ten-year-old, he looked up to the skies and gazed in amazement as great formations of Boeing B-17 Flying Fortresses soared overhead on their way from manufacture in Seattle to the sunny climes of California and the U.S. Southwest. They were on their way to new airfields built expressly for training cadet pilots who would ultimately fly them into WWII combat. When Marc s older cousin returned from Army Air Corps duty after the big war, he purchased a flight for Marc in a tiny Piper J-3 Cub. Marc s fate was sealed! The moment he became old enough (and earned a modest amount of money) he began flight lessons. Although a full 12 years elapsed from his first flight lesson until the day he received his pilot s license, his interest in airplanes never flagged. Marc went on to own ten different airplanes and enjoy an exciting flight avocation that lasted 20 years, all at a time when small used airplanes were surprisingly inexpensive.
