Synopsis
You're the Cook! A guide to mixing it up in the kitchen by Katie Wilton is designed for the inexperienced 9-14 year old cook. The book focuses on four food products: eggs, cheese, pasta, and berries (strawberries and blueberries). Where the food product is harvested or made, how to properly store it and its nutritional information is discussed for each food product and is followed by five recipes using that food product. This cookbook is filled with bright colors, step-by-step photographs and lots of fun tips and techniques!

About the Author
Katie Wilton was born the fourth child of a family of five in Buffalo, NY. She went on to receive a BA in Elementary Education from Wittenberg University in Springfield, OH. After a few years of teaching and developing a strong affinity for cooking by participating in local college cooking courses, Katie moved to pursue a formal culinary education in Boston, MA. Katie Wilton received her Professional Chef’s Diploma from The Cambridge School of Culinary Arts in 1999. Katie is a member of: The American Institute of Wine & Food; The Culinary Guild of New England; and the International Association of Culinary Professionals, where she received her CCP (Certified Culinary Professional). Ms. Wilton continues to teach throughout New England; she has been featured by many local and national media including: Living it Up! With Ali & Jack, Chronicle, The Phantom Gourmet, The Boston Globe, and Parents and Kids Magazine.
