This monograph covers a 50-year period in the life and work of American sculptor, George Rickey. It is intended to present the depth and breadth of his sculptural oeuvre between the early 1950s and his death in 2002 at the age of 95. Featured are 52 indoor and outdoor works, which demonstrate his expressive use of movement, and the relationship of his kinetic work with the natural world.

In 1964 his kinetic piece Two Lines Temporal established him internationally as a major figure in the history of kinetic sculpture, according to art historian Nan Rosenthal. In 1966 he gave up teaching to devote himself entirely to his creative work. The recipient of 10 honorary doctorate degrees and many awards and honors, George Rickey built a stellar career as an exhibiting artist, author, and professor of art in the U.S. and abroad.
