Dr. Chris Jefferies is an award-winning western historical fiction writer, author of the acclaimed Utah history-based trilogy, Zion's Promise. In 2009, his third volume of Zion's Promise series, Amidst War's Alarms, was awarded a Bronze Medal for Best Regional Fiction by the Independent Publisher Book Awards. Over the past 30 years, Chris has published many articles and monographs in a variety of professional journals, and is the author of the popular pictorial history, Images of America: Duncan and Stephens County, Oklahoma, published by Arcadia Press. He currently serves as editor of Prairie Lore, journal of the Southwest Oklahoma Historical Society. Chris is the retired executive director of the Chisholm Trail Heritage Center in Duncan, Oklahoma. He is also a retired Air Force colonel, and holds a BA degree from Brigham Young University, a Masters degree from the University of Pittsburgh, and a Doctorate from the University of Oklahoma.
