What is Visionary Art? The sources of the visionary experience are many and varied: dreams, trance, madness, meditation, entheogens... This little book examines them all, pursuing both Visions of Light and Visions of Darkness. Through the art and writings of Ernst Fuchs, H. R. Giger, Mati Klarwein, Robert Venosa, Johfra, De Es, Alex Grey and more, this new and unusual movement in art is put into proper perspective. "An intelligent analysis of the worldwide phenomena." – Alex Grey "Concise as an instrument for presenting the current state and dimension of the visionary phenomenon." – De Es FROM THE BOOK: "The visual language is a lost language, like cyphers undecyphered. But it underlies all that we dream each night. It invisibly appears whenever the images of vision flow in a meaningful way. It emerges from trance, contemplation, myth and madness. This ancient image-language, otherwise forgotten, is now being spoken once more..."
