Originally from Saskatchewan, Dorothy Black is a graduate of the University of British Columbia. She moved to Baie Verte on the island of Newfoundland from 1965-1980, where she painted wildflowers in watercolour. She now pursues her art in eastern Ontario. Peter J. Scott is curator of the Agnes Marion Ayre Herbarium, and a biology professor at Memorial University in Newfoundland.
