Excerpt: A tremor behind us.
Out of the shadows came a hideous beast ten, maybe, twelve feet tall. Huge dark red horns protruded from what looked like a black helmet. His face was dark black - I could not make out any features - except for his eyes. Red, glowing bulbs. His body had a red pigment to it. He had a human's torso - but extremely large with immense muscles. There wasn't an ounce of fat on his body. His shaggy legs were shaped like a goat's and his tail like a serpent's. Huge long nails protruded from his claw-like fingers. It was the beast from my vision.
"Yes my lord?" It said in a ghostly operatic voice.
"TAKE THEM TO YOUR REALM. MAKE THEM SUFFER."
"Yes, Sire."
Suddenly, darkness enveloped us, we were surrounded by it - engulfed - ingested by it. It happened instantly. One moment we were in the circle room with Hermes and Zeus, the next we were in the clutches of death incarnate. I couldn't sense the others. I couldn't sense anything but the cold darkness that had me at its mercy. I screamed. There was no pain, no torture. Just the feeling of loneliness - of great despair. I felt like I did when Anna and Jeanie died - but hundred fold. If I had a gun or knife - I'd have definitely put myself out of my own misery. There were no such instruments to end things - just the cascading spasms of feelings boring themselves deep into my soul. I screamed again - at the top of my lungs - but I knew no one could hear me. Then, just as sudden as it had begun - it was over. I lay on the ground for a few minutes.
It was still very dark but I could see the light of wall-mounted torches down the way from me. My eyes struggled to adjust. My hands, filled with dirt and grime struggled to wipe away the remnants of my tears. I could feel the filth replace the liquid anguish on my face. A cool chill swallowed my body and I realized I was naked.
My eye caught something move out of the corner. It blended into the wall. For a moment I saw motion and then I saw nothing. I stared hard at where I believed it to be. Nothing.
Then fear. I felt hot breath on my neck. My limbs would not move. I trembled uncontrollably and a light stream of urine trailed down my leg. Something growled hideously behind me. My head turned slightly and I saw it. I screamed and ran for my life.
The thing chased after me, cornering me into a wall, where there would be no escape. It's black skin seemed to sparkle in the torch light. Its face, almost human- like - but its teeth - oh God, its teeth were like hundreds of tiny sharp daggers, drool falling from each as it slowly approached me.It walked on two feet but hunched on all fours like a predatory animal ready to pounce. A large roar erupted from its mouth.
