Review:
Overtime: The Bonus Years is full of stories from men and women who are winners. They have kept going when the odds were against them. They ve found ways to reach their goals when things got tough. They ve haven't let problems or adversity crush them. I hope their experiences will help you see something every race car driver knows, Sometimes winning comes to the individual who just refuses to give up. --Johnny Rutherford, three-time Indianapolis 500 winner
The "taking the chance to start live over" stories and the comments by the authors in Overtime, The Bonus Years, were very inspirational and encouraging. Not only that, they also offered some very practically advice for anyone who finds themselves in need of transforming themselves and getting up and starting over. Getting a second chance (3rd or 4th actually) to win is exactly where I find myself. My last trip around the entrepreneurial mountain has left me, due to poor decisions and moral lapses on my part broke at 65. So when others are retiring, I particularly need some overtime bonus years in which to remake myself and go at it one more time. With that said, Overtime was written just for me. Although each of the 10 stories were meaningful, particularly helpful for me was Mary Arthur s story. She told how she would gain the courage to step out in faith by looking at her past life experiences and seeing how they fit into an opportunity that was opening before her. Well that was just what the doctor (The Great Physician you know) ordered for me. Struggling with seemingly insurmountable odds, I have been contemplating starting a new real estate venture to remake my financial life. God used her words to show me that I could do exactly as she did and gain faith the He was leading me in that direction. With the reflection her story prompted, I could see how many of my life experiences had uniquely prepared me for the opportunity that was before me. If I would just do all I could do, God would handle the rest. Thank you Mary for having the courage to share your story. Thank you Ben and Ken for being faithful to the vision that God entrusted you with. To anyone else reading this review, I am so sure that the stories in Overtime are inspired, that I will guarantee you that one of them is written especially for you. If you find yourself in need of an extreme makeover, run, don t walk to get this book. God can use it for you as He did for me; to give you the faith and flight plan for flapping your wings, while He gently and quietly provides all the wind you need beneath them to soar. --Wayne E Marcy Jr
As a Ph.D. and a researcher, I love to read and read a lot! Overtime: The Bonus Years is not only a great read, but a remarkable book about the human condition. This book opens your mind to endless possibilities and reminds you of the important things in life; honor, integrity, family, and one s relationship to God. A significant addition to anyone s library; as a reference and as a gift. --Linda A. Smith, Ph.D.
