Teachers and school administrators are concerned by the growing number of at-risk children in their schools, where 30% of students drop out before graduating. How can educators identify, assess, understand and help at-risk students in their schools? This largely unexplored problem is examined in depth in Shadow Children: Understanding Education's #1 Problem. Authored by Dr. Anthony Dallmann-Jones, a leader in at-risk student education, the new book provides research-based information and insight educators need to deal with a growing problem. How are at-risk students created? What are their characteristics? How do they impact the social and school environment? What are the essentials of effective prevention and intervention programs? What resources are available to educators working with at-risk students? The answers to these key questions, provided in the text, are based on the author s extensive research and professional experience in helping educators understand and help at-risk students.
