First collection of essays by Harlem-based cultural critic Carol Cooper. Remember the first time you encountered Prince? Run D.M.C.? house music? direct market comic books? Brazilan pop? reggae films? online service providers? Cyberpunk fiction? She does too--and documented these encounters for publications like *Rolling Stone*, *The Village Voice*, *The Face*, *Elle*, *Essence*, *Latin N.Y.*, and the *New York Times,* during the last 20 years of the 20th Century.
