Evva Foltz Hanes is the founder of the Clemmons, North Carolina-based Mrs. Hanes' Moravian Sugar Crisp Co., Inc. The company makes handmade Moravian cookies that are marketed locally and via mail order to all fifty states and thirty foreign counties each year. The cookies are made from secret family recipes. Evva and Travis Hanes have reared four children in the house that her great-grandfather built in the late 1830's. She is a seventh generation Moravian. Moravians are a small Protestant denomination whose ancestors settled Winston-Salem, North Carolina and the Friedberg Community in the early 1700s. Studying history, restoring old log buildings, and preserving family traditions have been a major part of Evva's life. Evva's goal has been "to be the best" throughout her life. She has strived to be the best wife, mother,cookie maker, and cook. Now after many years of baking, collecting, and creating recipes, she has compliled-and now updated- the best cookbook for you to enjoy as well!
