About the Author:
Randy and Judy Brown worked together on this book for a period of seven years. Going together to the Colorado Mountains to escape the sadness of the Columbine Tragedy, they took photos of Faces in the Rocks, compiled them, and created this marvelous book. Judy Brown acted as Graphics Artist, Computer Designer, Publisher and Researcher for this unique and creative tome. Randy Brown was the photographer. Residents of Colorado for many years, they have appeared on the Oprah Show, Good Morning America, The Today Show, the Leeza Show, and on countless News Shows. Their sons Brooks and Aaron helped with the book, and encouraged Judy with the handling of the complicated computer programs needed to publish this book.
Review:
"I think it is a remarkable book. I think it has such a warm touch to it. The quotes they have chosen cut across so many different types of philosophers... I think within the book there is something for everyone to connect with and expand their personal horizons." Joyce Meskis, owner of the Tattered Cover Book Store as quoted in the Denver Post. --The Denver Post
"A massive handsome coffee-table book... A spiritual journey, featuring dozens of photos and appropriate meditative texts... The faces range from the sublime to the comical. Alan Prendergrast (Westword) --Westword. July 2007
"The pair have since put the best of that collection into book form. "Faces in the rocks; A Spiritual Journey" has just been released... Some of the faces featured in the book are eerily recognizable, such as the face of what appears to be Jesus... the long stoic face of George Washington etched in red stone; or a fat gray cliff that resembles Richard Nixon. Other formations take a more artistic eye to appreciate, but fortunately for those not so inclined, the Browns have included a guide in the back with highlighted outlines of how they interpret the images. --Columbine Courier. July 2007
Rocky Mountain News Article: "It's rare that a self-published coffee-table book is so well-produced and charming that it would stand out among a pack of titles produced by professionals, but the Browns' book is so enduring and unusual, we couldn't leave it out. This book features photos the couple took during a five year period of hiking in Colorado, in which they captured images of rocks that look like faces. Some are stolid and literally stony-faced, others seem to be be showing great sorrow or joy- and all are accompanied by sayings from famous (and not so famous) people throughout history that perfectly complement their individual attitudes." "Why we love it: The idea seems wacky, we know. But these photos somehow give the spirit a lift, as if Mother Nature is letting readers in on a wonderful, whimsical secret. Amazingly rock solid." --Rocky Mountain News
