Synopsis
The Soil Neighborhood is the second in a series of children's books. The first book in the series, titled, Milk Comes From a Cow?, began Kansas Farm Bureau's initiative to educate young people about the importance of agriculture in their lives. In this book, Kailey (the author's cute little red-haired granddaughter), discovers why soil is so important. Please join Kailey with her discovery! About the Author
Dan Yunk is the Executive Director-CEO of Kansas Farm Bureau. He earned his bachelor's, master's and doctorate degrees from Kansas State University. Dan spent many years in the area school districts in capacities ranging from a teacher, at the start of his career, to the Superintendent of a School District. Dan has worked in his current capacity with Kansas Farm Bureau for a number of years. Dan not only understands education and how it plays an important role in the development of our children, but he also understands the importance of Agriculture and the role that Ag Producers play in our everyday lives. Dan and his wife Cheryl have two granddaughters, Kailey and Addie. Dan dedicates this book to the farmers and ranchers of Kansas Farm Bureau who provide us with food, fiber and fuel while serving as outstanding stewards of the land. Steve Swaffar is the Director of the Natural Resources Division for Kansas Farm Bureau. He has his bachelor's and master's degrees in biology from the University of Kansas. Steve has a wealth of knowledge in the natural resources field, some of which he shares with children in this book. Steve and his wife Donna have two sons, Tyler and Nathan. Steve dedicates the book to Wilson and Pete, his grandfathers.
