LaShae Byrts is the IT girl of the projects. She s the beautiful, self-proclaimed Project Queen . But looks are deceiving because Shae s home life is a living hell. Her mother is a vicious, spite-filled, abusive woman who drinks excessively and doesn t care about hurting the ones she should love: like her mother and her children. From family to drug-dealing boyfriends, Shae constantly sees abuse, blood, and heartache in her life. As her home life spins completely out of control, she clings to the hope that she can steal away a few dollars from the number one drug dealer in her neighborhood. She soon realizes, however, that all the shine of his money, spinning rims, and diamonds comes at a violent price. If she wants to become the true queen she is meant to be, then Shae will have to literally step through the fires of project hell and rise above the pain and turmoil of her life.

Miss Patterson became a published author in 1992. Her poem entitled, Remembering him was published in True Love magazine. Her short story A Way Out was printed in Verses magazine. She also submitted fictional stories that were accepted and published in both Black Secrets and Bronze Thrills magazines. Miss Patterson resides in Florida with her two sons.
