This is a collection of short tales bound together within one larger story: The Elocutionist's Tale. Joel Weintraub, a writer for Rolling Stone has been invited to see the inner workings of a rather unusual treatment center in Colorado. Dr. Peppercorn, the head of the center, is a big fan of science fiction, and part of her treatment plan is for patients to write sci fi stories and then read them aloud in a group. The science fiction genre is especially appropriate because all of the patients in treatment believe they have been abducted by aliens. It is Dr. Peppercorn's mission to convince her patients that their memories of alien abduction are not real. But something doesn't seem right to Joel. Does Dr. Peppercorn really think her patients are delusional, or does she have an ulterior motive? It will only become clear after you have heard all of The Elocutionist's Tale.

R. Stephen Lemler, PhD, poet, playwright, illustrator and author, uses his storytelling skills to write books whose messages of social justice speak to both young and old alike. Within the illustrated pages of his children's book, Bruce The Chartreuse Moose, one can plainly hear Dr. Lemler's call for racial tolerance amongst green and yellow moose who, by the way, do a fine job of substituting for humans. Turn the pages of his fantasy/sci fi novel, The Elocutionist's Tale, and you'll find similar themes woven throughout. Both White Boy Highway, drawn from life experiences gleaned during our country's tumultuous summer of 1967, and Like Birds' Feet In Snow, from years working with and for Native Americans, encourage the reader to approach each story as one would a babushka doll, peeling back layers to reveal the deeper prize within.
