9780980394764: The Four Spoked Wheel (The Gabriel Trilogy)
In the second book in The Gabriel Trilogy, Rodford Belcher looks at the four aspects of the self which are also major energies that influence our lives. We can either work with them when the opportunity arises or ignore them and find failure, frustration and suffering at every turn. Archangel Gabriel calls these forces The Four Spoked Wheel. Rodford asked Gabriel, “Why is it so hard for most people to make good things happen in their lives?” He replied that it’s to do with ego and how it always wants to strive heedlessly ahead seeking it’s endless goals. That it robs soul of the true possibilities on offer and the energies behind them to make them happen. Gabriel used the analogy of how our soul is like a sailor on the vast oceans of the Void. Its small sailing boat is its embodiment here on earth. He compared the forces of The Four Spoked Wheel to the elements of nature, the prevailing winds and tides that have to be worked with when sailing through life. Fighting them can lead to being shipwrecked, exhaustion, disillusionment and feeling broken. If we follow this pattern we will sink down into the depths of the Void like a vast ships’ graveyard of broken dreams. But what if we learn to recognize when these energies are at work in our lives? Then we’d have the beautiful feeling of being supported by the vastest energies in the universe.

About the Author:
Rodford Belcher grew up in Melbourne, Australia. “When people ask me about my early life I always think of turning points or windows of opportunity my soul took. When I first left my family it was like I’d been asleep and something inside me started to stir and awaken,” he said. Rod went away for a spiritual retreat called Timeline Therapy that helps you recognise incidents that occurred in your past that are stopping you moving ahead in life. “I had the most amazing spiritual experience. I dreamt I was embracing a beautiful golden angel who was the mirror of me. I have never felt so loved or at peace. After that a door opened within me, I felt the infinite ocean of my soul. I can’t explain the sublime beauty and peace I felt. I’ve carried that like a treasure in my heart ever since,” he said. But it’s interesting to note that when Rod left the retreat and returned to his share house he said, “The old limited me came back, and it was awful. This raised many questions within me.” Rod worked in animation and graphic design for over ten years. He grew disillusioned and set off around Australia in an old truck and ended up living in a tent in Broome, Western Australia where his desire to create art returned. Rodford’s art became a medium to communicate with his soul. “I could never go back to commercial art again after this epiphany,” he says. “My art became my solace and a vehicle to self discovery.” When Rodford returned to Melbourne he took a job as a Hospital Orderly and volunteered to teach art with pastoral care at Frankston Hospital’s Psych Ward. Then he went on to work with people out of jail with the Justice Department. “These jobs, though at times taxing, were also some of the most rewarding in my life. Before I was a fence-sitter and cut of from my fellow human beings. These humble jobs helped me understand how important humility is in our lives.” Rod said that an early interest in Dr Carl Jung the psychologist and Joseph Campbell the mythologist also shaped how he views life. Symbols in his dreams offered him important insights to a side of himself that before he found inaccessible that was full of compassion, strength, wisdom and peace. “With the help of my friend Mary Clark [author], I’ve found a new creative way to accessing my soul, through writing.” And so came about The Gabriel Trilogy manuscripts that took Rod three years to write.
