I love money.

I love that money is an idea that grows and changes with me, as I grow and change with money.

For a bunch of years, my two step sons, Anthony and Zachary desired to make more money. As each year began, we sat down and did a little exercise to become Aware of what we had accomplished (or not) in the previous year, as well as to Affirm what we desired to accomplish in the coming year, in the areas of Physical, Mental, Emotional, Spiritual, Financial, Relationship, and World Contribution Freedoms.

Each year, both boys expressed great disappointment and great desire in the area of money. Usually, after a very short time, they conveniently forgot about their desires, and fell back into their same money habits.

In January 2007, when the same desire was mentioned, I sat down with a proposal for my family. I had downloaded off the internet a Free Special Report called How To Double Your Way To $1,000,000 by Stuart Goldsmith. An incredible inspired idea of taking a single found penny and doubling the money in just 28 steps to over $1,000,000. wwwDOTdoubletoamillionDOTcom

Although everyone was excited about the prospects of more money, we did not put any action steps into play. Essentially, this proposal went no where because, as a family, we did nothing about it. An idea only works if you work it.

Next, it was January 2008, we sat down again to look back over the previous year to take stock of what we had accomplished. We all agreed that we had not accomplished all we could have, because we had not really tried to grow past our comfort zones when it came to money.

I asked my friend, lover, and nurturing partner, Binah, and my two step sons, Anthony (18) and Zach (13) to write down what they thought their money ideas were. Many of their answers were idealistic. "Money is Fun." "Money is Freedom."

Then, I shared what my money ideas were using the following criteria. I said that our family ideas of money are what we believe about money and what we believe is truly shown by our family results with money. I then shared what I thought those results were:

1. We still earn money in exchange for our labour.
2. As a family, we earned our income for a year working 40 hours per week. Our eldest worked his first full time job that summer and fall. Our youngest got an allowance.
3. We still rented an apartment in a city where the average mortgage payments for starter 3/2 homes would take 75% of our income.

In essence, the results we received showed us what we actually believed about money. I then said that after ten years together as a blended family, our situation had not changed dramatically and would not change much unless we changed our ideas about money and the ways we go about exchanging our time and talents for money.

When I asked if we as a family would be interested in working together to double our way to $1,000,000 each, I was met by a resounding "YES!"

What follows is a document that shares the New Money Ideas we gathered from great money thinkers and from our own experience in our money making journey.

My hope is that these ideas shall inspire your family to desire and take control of your Financial Freedom Journey.
