About the Author

Mitch Paioff has been an independent computer consultant for over seven years. He has consulted for major corporations, government agencies, and universities. His clients include Klein Tools, Insinkerator, Ricoh USA, and the University of North Texas. He is the author of several books, including Accounting Software Guide and 50 New Tax Clients a Year. Mitch wrote this book because so many of you wanted to know his secrets to starting, promoting, and managing a successful computer consulting business. He now spends much of his time coaching and mentoring new consultants.

Review

Mitch Paioff's book does a nice job explaining many of the key areas that concern anyone thinking about launching themselves in their own consulting business. I found of particular interest the chapters that explain the advantages and disadvantages of the different types of legal business entities to use as well as how to address the issue of health insurance for self-employed individuals. I also found it useful in explaining the tax consequences of operating a business in various ways. Mitch's book also does a great job of explaining how to deal with difficult client situations, citing personal experiences.
