This book tells the stories of four heroic and legendary football players from the state of Iowa. Nile Kinnick won the Heisman Trophy in 1939 and perished in 1943 during WWII; Fred Becker was Iowa's first All-American football player (1916) and died fighting in France during WWI; Jack Trice died after a football game in 1923 and today the Iowa State Cyclones play in a football stadium named after him; Johnny Bright was the nation's top offensive star for three years in the 1950s at Drake University and went on to a long and successful career in the Canadian Football League. All four of these legends had tragic endings to their lives. The book features a foreword by legendary Iowa sportscaster Jim Zabel and 53 photos, many never seen before.
