This is the terrifying heartbreaking, true story of Larry Kuntz and his parents, Mike and Frieda Kuntz. It tells the of survival of a five-year-old boy who was beaten and left for dead after having witnessed the murder of his parents in his father's car. The young, happy family was living in the small town of Wheat Basin, Montana, during the autumn of 1937. This rural community was out- raged by the murders of the Kuntzes. Little did they suspect it was one of their own that took the family on a death ride that fateful Friday after Thanksgiving. The following account covers the events that led up to the brutal mur- ders, as well as the daunting task faced by the local sheriff's office, without the benefit of today's technology, in solving this vicious crime. It also exposes the eventual distorted confession and recounts the hanging of an escaped felon, whose wife and children had no prior knowledge of his sordid past. This story also tells of the life of Larry Kuntz after his recovery from his near-death beating. This little boy was stripped of any semblance of a normal childhood and was left with having to endure nightmares for many years. There have been many articles written regarding these events, and lack- ing an eyewitness, sometimes what authorities thought happened was based on conjecture by those involved in solving this case. it was not until about 2010 that an eyewitness was able to finally talk about what had really happened and fill In some of the missing facts or pieces of the puzzle regarding the night or the murders. That eyewitness is none other than Larry Kuntz himself
