A young cow falls in love with a whale in this rhyming fantasy set in Maine’s Acadia National Park. The Keeper of the Sea angrily disapproves of the match. What does he do when the cow and whale produce a son? Danielle Armitage’s delightful full-color illustrations breathe life into the story and help readers learn about the Acadia region and Maine’s navigational buoys. The book also introduces young readers and listeners to words they might not know. The story includes a color-coded map to help children follow the Sea Cow's journey through Acadia National Park on Mount Desert Island and Schoodic Peninsula on the mainland.

About the Author
Dr. Beth Parks is a writer and photographer whoseworks have appeared in newspapers and magazines, as well as on nationaltelevision. She traveled extensively and visited all seven continents,dozens of countries and all fifty United States.
Beth enjoyedsuccessful careers as a University of Maine Cooperative Extensioneducator and professor, wildlife biologist, researcher, publicinformation specialist, and registered nurse. She served in operatingrooms in MASH and evacuation hospitals in Vietnam. She also served atthe 2nd General Hospital in Germany, now called the Landstuhl RegionalMedical Center (LRMC). It is currently the largest US military hospitaloutside the continental United States and the nearest treatment centerfor wounded soldiers coming from Iraq and Afghanistan.
Beth produced a powerful film called A Chunk of My Soul, which combines her still photographs with live-action footage to helpviewers understand the nurses' experience in the Vietnam War. She ispleased to show the film in educational settings.
