From the Author:
I've been encouraged by readers of the first Nurse Hal book to continue to write about the Lapp family and Hallie Lindstrom. For me this has been a delightful writing experience because I could see myself making some of the same mistakes as Nurse Hal makes. She tries to please the Amish family she wants to be a part of and sometimes things go wrong. One such time in The Rainbow's End was when Hal didn't know how to drive a horse so the buggy keeps going in circles. The image of this scene makes me laugh as it has my readers, but at the same time, I can feel for Hal. It is very frustrating to be in her situation.
I live close to Amish settlements. Like my readers, I admire the peaceful, sparse existance of these Plain, gentle friendly people. My background in a rural setting is much like the farming experience of the Amish so it is easy for me to write about. As long as my readers encourage me, I'll keep coming up with my stories for the Nurse Hal Series.
