Who was Jesus of Nazareth? This is a question people have debated since the first century. Who was this man who split history into before and after? Who, though he taught for only three years, is acknowledged to be one of the greatest teachers of all time? Whose symbol of his death, the cross, is probably the most recognized symbol in the world, found on buildings, in jewelry, in art, and in cemeteries around the globe? Who performed miracles and has changed the lives of millions? Was he just a man? Or was he much more? Since everyone must decide about what happened in 30 AD, the reader is asked to assume the role of a jury member when studying the evidence presented in the courtroom and to complete the jury ballot at the end of the trial. Read with interest and attention to the facts presented in the trial and decide once and for all who this man Jesus of Nazareth really was.

The minute I began reading I was drawn into story of what several first century AD witnesses might say if they were placed on the witness stand in a modern courtroom. The responses of Peter, Caiaphas, Pilate, and Mary Magdalene are intriguing, some times just what you would expect them to say, sometimes not. Throughout, the text moves quickly- the legal questions and responses are always brief, the text never complicated or stuffy. I think this volume will be fascinating reading for many, as it draws the reader through several relevant issues and on to the ultimate question in their lives.

In recent years we have often watched court room scenes in movies and on TV, where 'evidence' seemed to pile up and we found ourselves surprised when the facts were in, because some overlooked piece of evidence changed our mind. What is true of courtroom drama is also true in life. Multitudes of misinformed and biased people have silently formed conclusions on the resurrection without ever examining all the facts. Dr. Harvey takes the reader into a courtroom, where facts must be addressed, and calls witnesses to test the veracity of the resurrection. Unlike a sermon, which begins with certain assumed conclusions, the open courtroom environment Dr. Harvey creates encourages the reader to think, evaluate, and come to a well informed conclusion, namely that the evidence points to the reality of the literal, bodily resurrection of Jesus Christ. The witnesses and facts, independently and collectively, lead honest readers to that inevitable reality.
