Educators, youth program providers, therapists, and parents know that the very best way to teach and engage children is through play. This guidebook for facilitated play gives guidelines for over 30 games and activities that have been developed, time-tested and enjoyed over decades in author Howard Moody s play workshops.
This manual is unique in that it incorporates the Nurtured Heart ApproachTM, a method developed by psychotherapist Howard Glasser in the 1990s. The Nurtured Heart Approach is in use in schools, homes, therapy practices, and therapeutic settings worldwide, and is increasingly recognized for its benefit to normal needs and difficult children. This approach, delivered through the activities in this book, will enhance social-emotional intelligence, teamwork, self-confidence, and inner wealth both for the children being guided, and for the adults acting as guides.
Readers experienced with the Nurtured Heart Approach will find here a wonderfully active way to understand, implement, and expand the impact of the approach with children across age groups and settings. The book includes a thorough introduction to the Approach for Nurtured Heart novices.
