Review:
"[McIlroy] spotlights the work--poetry, fiction, nonfiction--of 10 students, each in turn, and each demonstrating a wisdom beyond their years. ...The results are powerful, heartrending. ...An educator myself, I found it impossible to put down this book." --Jarret Keene, Tucson Weekly
"One of the co-founders of ArtsReach, a creative-writing program for Native American children started 25 years ago, McIlroy visits some of his former students. ...It is a heartwarming book recounting success and failure and filled with details of Native American life." --J.C. Martin, Arizona Star
