About the Author

Dr. Randie Gottlieb is the head of UnityWorks, a nonprofit educational organization dedicated to reducing prejudice and to promoting cross-racial and cross-cultural understanding, equity and inclusion, with a focus on K-12 schools. She is also co-founder of the Mona Foundation supporting grassroots educational development worldwide, and Professor Emeritus of Multicultural Education at Heritage University on the Yakama Nation Reservation. She has authored twelve other books and holds degrees in education from Cal State, Boston University and Harvard. Her work has taken her to over 30 countries, including 11 years in Puerto Rico, where she managed an international training center, produced Spanish-language community-service radio and television programs, and with her husband, founded a Montessori-based elementary school.
