Zintkala Oyate (Peter V. Catches) was given a pipe to teach these lessons in the Lakota language so the person could converse some, pray in the sweat lodge and learn the songs he needed to participate in the Purification Rite of the Lakota. He is a 38th generation Lakota medicine man and the keeper of the Spotted Eagle Way. He is a keeper of the culture and his first language is Lakota.
