Synopsis
One of the first steps in a Lean initiative is the development of several Value Stream Maps, flowcharts that document all of the processes required to deliver a product or service from start to finish. A hospital will have many different value streams that will need to be developed, including the work done in the OR. About the Author
The authors are the Principals with Leonardo Group Americas LLC. The mission of Leonardo Group Americas is to assist its hospital clients to achieve success with the implementation of advanced Lean methods. LGA has been involved with the deployment of Lean in hospitals since 2002, and is a founding member of the Lean Hospital Group. They have conducted Lean improvement projects in virtually every hospital process and Value Stream.
