iTeachMe: Maximizing Student Comprehension is a short book that introduces a new method for studying any subject, whether it is Math, Biology, English or Law. The book was written as a collaborative effort by Dingane Baruti M.D., FAAFP, Andrea McMiller MPA and high school student, Mariah Olivia Dean. The new study method bears the same name as the book, the iTeachMe home study method. Dr. Baruti convincingly shows that regardless of life circumstances, almost any high school, college or graduate student can maximize long-term comprehension of essential concepts taught in the classroom. This book explains why Dr. Neil Flemings' classic Visual, Auditory, Reading, and Kinesthetic (V.A.R.K) learning styles grossly underestimate the mind-brain's ability to learn. Dr. Baruti uses Gestalt psychology to explain how the mind-brain actually learns on multiple levels, in different dimensions all at the same time. This book calls for a dramatic restructuring of the U.S. educational system, away from the traditional Authoritative Teaching Model used in classrooms throughout the country to the iTeachMe model where students learn by teaching. The last chapter provides step-by-step instructions for how students should apply the iTeachMe method at home. This book reminds teachers, school administrators and education policy makers to acknowledge that American education is at a crossroad where the choices are clear: Continue with the same old failed education policies that churn out students ill-prepared to compete on the international stage, or implement iTeachMe and restore intellectualism and creative genius to our nation’s youth. The iTeachMe method described in this book shifts the responsibility of academic achievement from the local, state and federal government back to parents and students.
