About the Author:
Douglas W. Sabbag was born in Boston, MA, April 4th. His father, Albert , worked in management for TWA at Logan, and his mother, Sandra, was a housewife. Doug’s early years were happy and healthy in Danvers, MA., in the North Shore area. Doug was in the second grade when his parents divorced, after which he and his mother moved around frequently. That ended when Doug entered the 8th grade and they landed in Waterville, ME, Sandra’s home town. Soon after this move, Albert died of a brain tumor and left some money to Doug. Sandra, an alcoholic by then, spent the money in bars and when that ran out, she abandoned her son in Maine in the winter of his Junior year in High School. Doug managed to complete this school year while living on the streets, then attended a Prep School in Maine called Kent’s Hill for his Senior year. Doug attended a college within the University of Maine system for a short time, however without enough support, he reverted to working full time. Doug eventually returned to school in Northern California and earned a Computer Programming Certificate. Doug has held a very wide variety of jobs throughout his life, ranging from dishwasher to computer consultant. The list includes: clothing & sporting goods store worker, (Doug’s maternal family business), pizza store worker, bakery worker, roofer, photographer, photography studio and store owner, adjunct photography teacher at Colby College, door to door: vacuum cleaner salesman, steak & seafood salesman, and life insurance salesman, drug store assistant manager, security guard, US Army / National Guard member, (Honorable Discharge), mobile elementary school photographer, computer programmer which evolved into a computer consulting career providing services to client companies from California to Boston to Florida to Indianapolis. He is also a US Coast Guard Certified Charter boat Captain wherein he and his wife Evelyn operate a sailboat chartering enterprise in Fort Lauderdale, FL., using their beautiful sailboat, the Triumph. In between computer contracts, Doug has on occasion worked as a restaurant host, in Boston, and a security guard.
