"Alone in Starlit Garden" is a collection of over three hundred poems as well as literary essays by Shouxing Qi. They range from classic five-word, seven-word poems to modern free verse, all in refreshing, bold, and sometimes pungent voices marking bitter sweet love, loss, sorrow, frustration, dreams lost or half realized, and the joy, beauty, and ugliness of life. In the China today where so many people are so caught up in the pursuit of material success, Shouxing Qi is one the few who still persist and indulge in the “sweetness and light” of poetry. Most of the poems and essays in this book have appeared in online and other literary forums and have been enthusiastically received.
