Synopsis
This anthology is a call to resist the free-market ideology so dominant in American culture. It breaks with the silent complicity of official verse, collecting poems which steadfastly envision the revolutionary changes necessary for a future worthy of our common purpose. The geographical range is wide as is the range of styles and themes supporting Resistance. Unusually, the book includes a substantial number of visionary poems, far beyond the limitations of agitprop. In many ways it represents a gathering of the post World War II generation.

Fred Whitehead is a poet, editor and historian who has devoted decades to collecting and documenting grassroots literature and culture, focusing on the West and Midwest, but also on international parallels and contexts.
