From the Author

Why Practice on Hard Questions?
The number of challenging questions you answer correctly largely determines how high you score on the LSAT. Most students can correctly answer the easy and medium difficulty questions.

For students aiming to score in the high 150s, it helps enormously to improve on the hardest questions. The questions on normal test sections are not in order of difficulty, so even if you are not finishing the sections, you are still attempting many hard questions. The more of those you answer correctly, the better your score.

To score in the mid 160s, you need to answer about 85% of the questions correctly. That means answering over half of the hardest questions correctly. To score in the mid 170s, you need to correctly answer a large majority of the most difficult questions.

How do you get better at the hardest questions? Practice them thoroughly and exclusively. On a normal LSAT section, less than 30% of the questions are difficult. In this book, 100% of the questions are difficult. Learn how to successfully approach them through repetition and analysis. Practicing on the hard questions will earn you those crucial extra points to take your LSAT score to the next level.

How is This Book Better Than the Next 10, Actual, Official LSATs Book or the 10 More Official LSATs Book?
Advanced LSAT Practice has superior practice questions sorted in useful ways. These questions are extremely demanding and will prepare you for anything the test can throw at you. Further, the additional features provided help you translate your practice into a higher score quickly. Perhaps most importantly, the questions here are geared towards the newest LSATs. The 10 More book features many out of date question types.Focused practice is effective practice. You would need to work both the 10 More and 10 Actual books (2000 questions) to equal the results achievable by working these 905 questions.  That would take at least 20 hours longer than working through this book. Your time is more valuable than the $20 you would save opting for the cheaper, less powerful prep books.   Who Should Use This Book?
This book is designed for the top 50% of LSAT students, those scoring 150 and higher on full tests.  Because these questions are so difficult, lower scoring students may gain more by practicing on full sections or books of question types of easy and medium difficulty. Explanations are not provided for questions in this book, but average and above students will have no trouble understanding their mistakes.
When Should I Use This Book?
If you are self studying, first learn effective methods for the different question types within the three sections. Then, practice with this book during the middle and/or end of your LSAT prep. Use this book right after learning methods to help you hone them, or work these question sets towards the end of your preparation, in between full tests. If you are taking a prep course or working with a tutor, use this book after becoming comfortable with the methods you are learning. Use this book steadily for the middle and end portions of your course.     Additional Features:

  • Practice effectively with detailed guidelines and tips on important prep topics including question review, prep organization, timing, and more.
  • Careful ordering of the Logical Reasoning sets helps you progress from more direct to more abstract question types with ease.
  • The total number of questions from each section corresponds to the weight of that section: the Logical Reasoning section makes up 50% of this book, Reading Comprehension 27% and Games 23%. Balanced preparation helps maximize your overall score, the only one that counts.
