About the Author
Gil Fronsdal es el maestro principal del Insight Meditation Center en Redwood City, California. Ha practicado Zen y Vipassana en los Estados Unidos y en la Asia desde 1975. Fue monje Theravada en Burma en 1985, y en 1989 fue entrenado por Jack Kornfield para ser maestro en la tradición Vipassana. Recibió ordenación como sacerdote Soto Zen en el San Francisco Zen Center en 1982, y en 1995 recibió la transmissión del Dharma de parte Mel Weitsman, abad del Berkeley Zen Center. Gil tiene un título en agronomía otorgado por la Universidad de California, Davis, donde fue activo en la promoción de la agricultura sostenible. En 1998 recibió un doctorado en Estudios Religiosos de la Universidad de Stanford y escribió su tesis sobre el origen del ideal del Bodhisattva a los comienzos del Budismo Mahayana. Es autor del libro A Monastery Within y también ha publicado una tradición del texto clásico Budista El Dhammapada Además, Gil enseña en el Spirit Rock Medication Center donde forma parte del colectivo de maestros. Es esposo y padre de dos hijos.
