From the Inside Flap:
Volume 1. 1025 BC to 970 BC. Israel wants protection against its pagan neighbors. However, the Israelites keep doing it their way, instead of God’s way. When God gives up on Saul, He chooses David to lead Israel, but then He must intervene several times and in very mysterious ways. VOLUME 1: These are the events and people that surrounded and defined David from age 14 to 30—the boy-shepherd, the lion killer, the poet, the musician, the anointed, the warrior who slew Goliath and thousands of enemies until David becomes the hunted himself. He spent eight years running and hiding from Saul who wanted to kill him. Saul’s son Jonathan—a prince and possibly next in line for the throne not only befriended David, but saved his life on more than one occasion. Volume 1 won the Silver IPPY for second-best GRAPHIC NOVEL from the Independent Publisher Book Awards.
Author Michael Hicks Thompson couldn’t understand why God said David was a man after His own heart. So he researched, wrote, art-directed five artists, and published the DAVID novels.
