NPR icon Carl Kasell,the most beloved person in public radio, shares memories of his life. From growing up in North Carolina, where Carl was hooked on radio at an early age (his mother had to chase him out of the house to get him to stop listening to the radio and play with other kids), to NPR and Wait Wait...Don't Tell Me! you'll read heartwarming, hilarious and informative stories about Carl and NPR. Some of public radio's biggest stars contributed stories to the book: Bob Edwards, Susan Stamberg, Cokie Roberts, Nina Totenberg, Paula Poundstone, Mo Rocca, and many others. The book includes two, 16-page photo inserts, featuring dozens of photos from Carl's personal collection and documenting his amazing career.

About the Author
Carl Kasell was the voice that millions of people woke up to each morning. He was news anchor for NPR's popular Morning Edition from the show's beginning until he stepped down in 2009. In 1998, Kasell joined a fledgling news quiz show as official judge and scorekeeper. As the popularity of Wait Wait...Don't Tell Me! grew, Kasell's popularity exploded. He became a rock star, in the public radio sense of the term, with an adoring, cult-like following significantly populated by young women in their 20s and 30s, and fans of all ages who still covet Carl's voice on their voice mail.
