Synopsis

Who is Fighting the War in Afghanistan? Did you know that 52% of people fighting wars for the United States are contracted to do so? Real People. Real Missions. Real War. After the United States was attacked and the President vowed to search and destroy the enemy, the government formed a secret unit comprised of civilians. Paid civilians. Contracted civilians. Many of these people left their jobs, families, and friends to voluntarily serve alongside their military brethren. They did it out of love, passion, and deep patriotism. Declan Collins is one of those men. Just another patriot you have never heard of working to keep America safe. As a former member of the US Armed Forces trying to make it in the civilian world as a newlywed, Declan quickly found himself working for one of America?s most secretive organizations. He fit the role of what they needed perfectly. This novel is about what happened after Declan received a mysterious phone call, was paid and given two weeks to get into Afghanistan all the while placing his life on hold to preserve and protect America. Find out about the fighting force rarely ever spoken of, those who were Contracted?America?s Secret Warriors. This action packed war-time thriller tells the story Declan Collins, one of the 52% of fighters contracted to go to war by secret organizations in the United States. Inspired by true events.

Review

"Operator-now author- Kerry Patton proves he's an authentic war time novelist and gives readers a rare and true-to-life peek inside a very unique and dangerous world."-- Dean Popps, former Assistant Secretary of the Army

"An extraordinary tale that takes the reader inside the gray operational world of America's war against the Taliban and other Islamic extremists.  America knows of its military warriors but there is another element of the struggle that goes largely unnoticed.  Kerry tells the story of that group of warriors and intelligence experts in a most enjoyably readable style.  You won't put this one down!"-- Captain Chuck Nash, US Navy Retired. Military and National Security Commentator

"Only through fiction can insiders tell the truth. Kerry Patton is one of the few Americans who has the perspective and experiences, both with the military and outside the wire, to write a book that mixes ground truth with an impressive story. He is an insider who is using fiction to paint truth on what has become the longest, and will soon become the most controversial war in our history." -- Lieutenant Colonel Tim Lynch, US Marine Corp Retired

"Kerry Patton's breakout novel based on events the author lived, is both highly entertaining and educational. It delivers us into a world where everything is laid on the line for country and for each other. We live in a new world and with a new kind of warfare confronting America. This is a must read for those who wish to fully understand it. Highly recommended." -- James Michael Pratt, NY Times and USA Today bestselling author of The Lost Valentine and Ticket Home.

"Kerry Patton's debut novel shines a light on a little-understood linchpin in 21st century war efforts. Inspired by true events, the novel propels the reader on a journey alongside a secret fighter whose work will receive no public attention, but whose efforts are vital to national security. Patton's style adds a sense of immediacy to a finely written story." -- Kay B. Day, award-winning author and editor of The US Report
