Synopsis
A magnificent boxed two volume production to do justice to the more than 20 years of research that has been done on these plants in their habitat. Significant introductory sections cover biomes, history of botanical exploration, Harry Bolus, morphology, inter-relationship with fire, pollination and hybridisation, and cultivation before going on to describe the genera and species which are divided between terrestrial and epiphytic. Accounts of people who have been significant contributors to the knowledge of these plants are also interspersed amongst the accounts. Very well illustrated with colour photos, many of a good size, and many colour reproductions of botanical illustrations.
