Synopsis

Some say the fictional radio/TV/Film character the Lone Ranger was actually patterned after the real life legendary US Deputy Marshal Bass Reeves. With over 3000 felony arrests in his 32 year career, fourteen men killed in the line of duty, he always said "never shot a man when it was not necessary for him to do so in the discharge of his duty to save his own life." The Lone Ranger left behind silver bullets when he saved the day...Bass left a silver dollar. He wore two Colt .38-40 revolvers in reverse grip, plus a .41 cal Colt in a shoulder holster. Bass was an ambidextrous shooter and was absolutely deadly with either hand. His descendants say he had an excellent bass voice and would start to sing a Negro spiritual real low to himself when he was about to do some shooting.
